About us

Hi, thanks for visiting our site!  We're Andy and Caleb, and our very special pets are named Lew and Clark.  When we started making cables in our garage, office and living room, we never had any intention of creating a company or selling cables commercially.  Although we've been friends for a decade and we're both musicians who have a geeky obsession with tone, our search for the best instrument cables came from two distinctly different angles.

As a guitar player, Caleb was constantly trying different pedals, cables and power configurations to get the best possible sound out of his guitar and amp.  Purchasing almost every "boutique" and name-brand cable on the market, Caleb found some great sounding cables but often overpriced, and some even claiming to be something they weren't, so he turned to DIY.  After some trial and error, he succeeded in finding the perfect combination of cable, connectors, and sleeving that made his guitar and amp sound the absolute best they could.

As a keyboard player, I've never cared a whole lot about instrument cables except that they worked well and when they needed to.  When I joined Miguel's band for his 2016 tour with Sia, I asked Caleb to build me some custom instrument cables for my DSI Prophet 08.  While I did notice a wider frequency response, louder output and more gentle midrange than many of my cables, the real magic for me was in the reliability.  Over the course of the first 2 weeks of tour, EVERY cable I owned (including the backups) failed except for the cables Caleb made me.  These included all my "name-brand" cables that I had just invested hundreds of dollars into buying.  To make matters worse, I was in a different city (and often different countries) every day and by the time the cable company customer support finally emailed me back, it took hours of emails and phone conversations to get replacement cables.  What blew me away about Caleb's cables is that even when all my other cables failed, I could still rely on his for every show, and they were perfectly suited for travel and longterm touring.  For the next year and a half I was constantly travelling on planes, busses and vans and I always knew that I could rely on my cables, and I still have them today!

With all the hype that’s surrounded the boutique guitar world lately, the last thing we want to do is become another company selling you snake oil that’s shrouded in secrecy and ambiguity.  The truth is, after years of R&D, we found our favorite combination of materials available on the consumer market to make our guitars and amps sound the best they possibly can to our ears.  But don’t take our word for it, listen against some of our competitors and decide for yourself here.  All of our cables are and always will be 100% handmade here in Los Angeles and are backed by our lifetime warrantee: if you ever have an issue with one of our cables, we will fix or replace it for free.

Tour Support:

We know how frustrating it can be to contact gear companies with an issue on tour and to have to scramble in an unfamiliar city at the last minute to find a replacement, and that’s why we we strive try to offer the absolute best tour support in our power.  We know the most important thing when your gear goes down is to get you a replacement cable ASAP, which is why we’ll work with local dealers, hotel staff, venues and couriers to get you replacement cables or loaners wherever you are in the world.  If you need anything at all, just shoot us an email at: lewandclarkcables@gmail.com.
